It's been a busy last few weeks, with shooting on location, working on the production folder and starting the editing process, we've barely had time to update everyone with how it's going. The crew have a been out and about filming interviews with contributors, while James has been in the edit suites diligently sub clipping and transcoding into the evening. Here are just a few of the shoots we've been on over the last few weeks:

Louise Woods and Ben Klann:

Louise and Ben are a couple from Reading who agreed to talk with us about their stillborn daughter Adora and about their rainbow baby Everly. Our director Shanie and Louise have known each other for a while as Louise runs the Starlet Dance School that Shanie attended and taught at. This was a very emotional interview where we discussed the trauma that comes with child loss as well as the happiness and hope that a rainbow baby can bring into people's lives. Louise's story was what inspired the crew to look into the issue of neonatal death and stillbirth so this was a highly anticipated interview.

Lauren Ifill and Karen Thornhill:

Karen is another woman that Shanie has known for her whole life. She is a close family friend and is Lauren's mother. Lauren lost her son Da Costa and agreed to speak to our crew about her experience. She also works in a hospital on the maternity ward and so this gives an interesting perspective on returning to work after losing a baby. We also spoke with Karen to get a grandmother's view on losing a baby, as we wanted to show how this is an issue that affects entire families and not just the couples who's child it is.

Erica - A spokesperson from SANDS:

SANDS is a charity that focuses on support and awareness surrounding stillbirth and neonatal death. Erica agreed to speak to us about her work with SANDS, but also about her own experience with child loss. It was an interesting look at the work of the charity and at how an individual's experience can influence their life going forward.

SANDS Support Group:

The SANDS support group was a different sort of interview as we met with a group of mother's to rainbow babies, who met on a weekly basis to discuss their lives and have a catch up. We spoke with four mothers (who had bought along their rainbow children, making for a loud and dynamic setting!) about why they joined the group and what they thought it bought to their lives after going through shared experiences.

As you can see, it's been an eventful time and we are so grateful for everyone who agreed to participate in the documentary to raise awareness for such an important topic. We are working on our first edit now, ready to show on December 1st. Expect a trailer coming soon and also keep eyes peeled on our other social media for footage of Shanie's skydive on Wednesday!
